opening verses in Chapter 111 of Ecclesiastes.
The composer was awarded the Pulitizer Prize for this work.
Hovhaness: "Psalm and Fugue" is written in the spirit of Handel Choruses.
"Shepherd of Israel"" is a work dedicated
to the founding of the State of Israel.
Rosner: "Responses, Hosanna, and Fugue" is a work which
recalls responsorial singing in the mosque, the synagogue or innumerable
denominations of the churches.

Mr. Heard is founder and bassoonist of the internationally recognized Miami Wind Quintet,
a resident faculty ensemble at
Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, where he is Professor of
Bassoon and Chamber Music. He has recorded four important 18th century
bassoon concertos with the Kieve National Chamber Orchestra, "Camerata Kiev",
conducted by Alexander Ostrowski.
Camerata Kiev, an orchestra of thirty two musicians of the Kiev Philharmonic,
is the resident ensemble of the Kiev Music Festival
